Carolin Strobl is a Professor of Psychological Methods at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, with a background in psychology and statistics. Her research interests include psychometrics, particularly methods for detecting differential item functioning, machine learning with an emphasis on decision trees and random forests, and, most recently, meta-research on methodological research. She has contributed to several publications and R packages in psychometrics and machine learning, as well as the textbooks "An introduction to the Rasch model with examples in R", Chapman & Hall/CRC, and "Simulation Studies in R – Design and Practical Application", Springer (forthcoming).
Invited workshop David Andrich "Historical and epistemological perspectives on the Rasch measurement model"
David Andrich is former Chapple Professor of Education at the University of Western Australia. He is also Visiting Professor in the Department of Education, The University of Oxford and Department of Rehabilitation Studies, The University of Leeds. In 1990, he was elected Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences of Australia for his contributions to measurement in the social sciences. He is especially known for his work in modern test theory, and in particular Rasch measurement theory, where his work has ranged from philosophy of measurement, to software development. His most recent book is "Rasch meta-metres of Growth for some Intelligence and Attainment tests" published by Springer.
Contributed workshop Post conference workshop Karl Bang Christensen "Graphical Rasch models"
Karl Bang Christensen is a Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Copenhagen. His work focuses on biostatistics and measurement issues within social and health sciences. He has published extensively about methodology and applications within the field of Rasch measurement. Graphical Rasch models offer a flexible framework to analyze and refine measurement instruments. They combine the principles of Rasch measurement with multivariate graphical models for analysis of categorical data. Essentially, they build upon the Rasch model's focus on person ability and item difficulty by explicitly incorporating relationships betweenitems, a latent trait, and external variables.
